Helping Foster Children Celebrate Their Birthdays
United Way of Daviess County recently received 36 birthday kits to help support children in our community. Each kit includes items such as cake mix, candles, a baking pan, a coloring book, and other small goodies to help make a child’s birthday special.

These kits were made possible through a coordinated effort by Indiana United Ways and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis, whose employees assembled the kits for United Way partners across the state. Local United Ways are then able to determine how best to distribute the kits within their communities.
UWDC chose to partner with Kristin Cooper, foster care supervisor with the Division of Children Services, to provide these birthday kits to foster children in Daviess County. Many families, sadly, do not always have the extra funds to provide some of the things many of us may take for granted. These kits help ensure children can still celebrate their birthday and enjoy a cake made just for them.
Thank you to Indiana United Ways and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis for helping make these small but meaningful moments possible for children in our community.
